This is is Kamil Krason, he is 19 years old and comes from Krakow Poland. he is currently studying history at Northampton University and works part time as a cable manufacturer also in Northampton. His pastimes include travelling and video editing and in his spare time he runs a YouTube channel that is a satirical review of the places he’s been to during his travels. Damion Miller talked to him as part of our series focused on where people live, My Pad…

Where do you live?

I live in Northampton, Kingsthorpe specifically in terraced (attached) housing with my parents, my brother and my pet rabbit Charles.

How long have you lived here?

I have lived here for 9 years, this has been our first and only house in the UK.

How would you describe this place in three words?

I would say my house is Quiet, peaceful and clean.

Can you tell me more about how your current house compares to your previous one in Poland?

This house is much bigger and well kept than our one in Poland before that was kind of like the stereotypical soviet union housing blocks so our house here feels bigger in terms of personal space and having a garden too is good.

Do you think you would consider moving back to Poland?

Right now I’m not considering moving back, although it is always an option as I still have family back there and visit them often. I’ve kept the language and culture with me so it wouldn’t be very difficult.

How do you think your travelling hobby changes the way you perceive your home?

Travelling makes me realise how unimpressive my home town is, seeing all these different places around the world really makes the UK look and feel like the dreary grey overcast stereotype.

Lastly, how would you define the term home and or what does home mean to you?

Home for me is where I fell safe and comfortable, whenever I travel it feels like home well maybe not overnight trains as they’re not comfortable and not safe but for me home definitely isn’t just a building.
