On the 30th November, the event ‘Kicks like a Mule: Hark!’ a fundraiser for Solomen ‘Solly’ Bowden’s new filmSunDog.

The Kicks Like a Mule event.

Solly himself is a Cornish film director and writer. He prides himself of it. Over the years of his early career and his first film, Solly made considerable connections with Cornish actors and directors, most notable Mark Jenkin.

With his films and writing recognised even further than belief, he needs his supporters donations with his new films. This is where the ‘Kicks Like A Mule’ events help. Kicks Like A Mule is a group of monologues written by Solomen which are read out by different actors.

Sollys ideas for the monologues and stories come from him. The stories are all in his head, and most he can not put into his preferred format of film, which is something he does wish he could do. Too many stories, and not enough resources to make each one a film. Thus, Kicks Like  A Mule was created.

After his last Kicks Like A Mule event was a success, Solly and his producer decided to use it for his fundraising technique.

The most recent Kicks Like Mule: Hark! Was their Christmas approach. This time Solly wrote most of

Kicks Like A Mule: Hark! Poster

the stories and a guest writer, O.W. Kettle.

In time between filming and writing his films, Solly says he needs to have a creative output so he does not ‘stagnate’ as the duration between each milestone of producing a film can be long.

Speaking to Solly post event, he emphasised how well it goes down as it’s a different type of fundraising. If this is something you could be interested in going to, The Mouth urges you to take part! Find out more @princeoftearsfilm
