Will AI take over the writing industry
Writing is one of the the oldest forms of communication in human history, the art of
putting one’s thoughts and ideas into the physical world. Writing as a job falls into
countless categories from fictional to real life and the job market for writing was
endless, however, with the up rise of AI and its unique exploits Artificial intelligence has
started having a damning impact writers and creative writers alike.
Harry is a creative writing student from Falmouth university, and I have spoken to him to
ask for his opinions on AI, how he feels it’s changing the job market and if AI needs to be
allowed to grow or have severe limitations put onto it. My first question to Harry was
how has AI affected you and your course?
“AI has been an extremely troublesome and concerning problem that has been swirling
around in my head for a long time, it really makes me doubt that I’m going to be able to
get a job in writing when I am older as there won’t be any jobs left”
“AI hasn’t had an effect on my course really as all the writing we do is from ourselves so
there is no need for AI intervention”
AI vs human the battle of realism
Creative writing has been heavily affected by AI with artificial intelligence being able to
create in depth stories out of thin air with a couple of command prompts and this is why
writers particularly despise Artificial intelligence as it takes all the emotion and
dedication out of the work. Could AI take over the writing industry?
“Writing to me is extremely personal, I feel each author has a unique different style that
comes forth in every piece of work, that’s why I feel AI can never take full control of the
writing industry, it will definitely damage it but not take control”
AI and it’s needed restriction
It seems to be many people like the idea of AI and find it a very interesting new
technology that can have countless uses to help aid the world and make certain things
easier, but also through talking to people a large majority of people say AI needs
restricting to not outgrow the human race, many people think AI is on its course to
outdate humans if left untamed. I spoke to harry to ask for his opinions on if AI should
have limitations put on it or if Artificial intelligence should be left to grow and develop.
“I think AI should have limitations induced to stop it from taking away from everyone’s
career, so many students are studying and feeling hopeless watching their dreams
become harder to obtain”
The voice of the young needs to be heard
Harry’s words and concerns are a clear indication is that Artificial intelligence needs to
be limited to let the younger generation flourish and gain the jobs they have been
working so hard for, if left to evolve AI will be running the world from behind closed
doors, with all virtual consumerism being artificially generated which will take all of the
love, emotion and hard work out of all of it.
